ガラル地方と実際のイギリスを比較

・ポケモンソード・シールドの舞台ガラル地方はイギリスがモチーフになっていると噂されていますが、イギリス人たちが公式画像と実際のイギリスを比較してみました。

やはりこちらでもガラル地方はイングランドを上下逆さまにしたものだと言われていますが、ロンドンが画面上部の雪山の中にあるのはゲーフリのアレンジだとも指摘されています。

日本でも話題になっている巨人の地上絵は、なんと実際のイギリスのドーセンという場所にモチーフとなった地上絵があるそうです。

また女主人公が被っていた帽子がスコットランドのものから、主人公の住む最初の町はスコットランドであるとの指摘も多かったです。

It's not a 1:1 map of Britain you fucktards. They just picked areas they liked from Britain, and arranged them on a map how they liked. Hence why the Cerne Abbas Giant (in real life: in Dorset) is in the middle of the map.

They took a very, very, VERY vague interpretation of the UK landmass and splattered it with English iconography all over. No, flipping it upside down doesn't suddenly make it a more accurate UK map, and no the starting area isn't fucking Scotland.

The region is clearly England-inspired, they just moved shit around to serve the gameplay, like heading to London as the final destination.

Why do you think that the huge northern snowy mountains are somehow less relevant than a few small buildings in the starting area?

Do you seriously, unironically think that some fields and houses are Scottish icons and thus represent the entirety of Scotland on this map?

Or do you think it makes more logical sense to assume that, like the other 95% of the map, the town is also just supposed to be the English countryside and the north where Scotland was supposed to be was just used as the basis for a more climactic London city instead?

It's clearly the British island flipped so the south is where Scotland would be. The South is filled with Scottish landscapes (mountains, hills, lochs farmland). The South is also like the starting area where the MC comes from who is wearing Scottish clothing. The South is representing Scotland. England begins at the mid section with the northern style industrial city.

you have a fair point, i dont think it's a 1-to-1 representation. but i also don't think that scotland is represented entirely. the female player has a tam-o-shanter and tartan socks, so the starting area seems to be an allusion to southern scotland/northern england.

If the lake is the hill you want to die on, then we'll just have to wait until the game releases to see if there's any comparison or reference to Lock Ness. I'll happily concede then but until that happens, there is absolutely nothing about that starting area that can be proven undoubtedly to be Scottish. It's just traditional towns and farmland, something that is indistinguishably English alongside the rest of the region.

But I just dont think flipping the map upside down and calling some houses and fields Scotland is justified in the greater context of the entire presentation of the region. The simple answers are often the right ones, and in this case its just that it's just England.
